To help you get the most out of your transmission:

* Make sure that your cars choke is kicked off before engaging the transmission into a gear.
* Avoid jack-rabbit starts, power shifting, also come to a complete stop before shifting from forward to reverse or the opposite.
* Check transmission fluid level as regularly as you would check your motor oil.
* If towing a trailer or boat, an auxiliary transmission cooler would be advisable.
* Preventative maintenance of a transmission filter and fluid change is a must in the later model transmission due to the fine mesh filtering that can easily become clogged with sediment from normal wear inside the transmission.
* When driving a car equipped with an Electronically controlled transmission, if you find that it is not functioning as normal then there can be a problem and it should be checked out right away to avoid costly repairs. One bad sensor or solenoid can cause complete destruction of a gear-train.
